On the face of it drawing a picture everyday based off a prompt doesn’t sound that hard. But let me tell you, this is taking a whole lot more effort on my part than I thought. Over the last year or so I have generally drawn something most days, wither that be a piece I intend to bring to finish or just working on something in the sketchbook. But the fact there’s a schedule and the overarching fear of failing off the inky wagon makes this challenge hard work. I’ve now completed 20 of the 31 required drawings and I have to say I’m not totally dissatisfied with some of the drawings. It’s not the physical act of drawing everyday that’s kicking my arse, it’s coming with the ideas. Most of the prompts I’ve had an initial idea which I immediately dismiss as far too obvious. So then have to spend the rest of the day trying to think of something else to draw. Other days I’ve had no clue at all and had to spend the first hour at my desk on google looking for inspiration. If you want to see what I think of each of my efforts check out the Inktober gallery in my portfolio. I’m working my way back through the drawings so far and adding some thought’s. Oh and finally, got a mention on the Barnsley Museum’s twitter feed yesterday, I’m famous!. I’m looking forward to seeing their digital Inktober exhibition when it goes live.
In other news, plans for starting the degree have been confirmed. I’ll be signing up for the first module on pay day. I’ll be a student again and look forward to being able to get a discount on practically everything. Unfortunately as a part time student I’ll still have to go to work. So staying in bed till dinner time, watching countdown and getting hammered on a Wednesday night will have to remain as fond memories of the last time I was in education.
Thanks for your support and happy scribbling.
